Online reputation management strategy

Sonke is committed to putting in place safeguards to present the likelihood of sexual exploitation, bullying, abuse or any form of harassment from taking place in the organisation and to those accessing the services of the organisation offers. All individuals involved with Sonke shall be treated with respect and dignity. The aim of this policy is to ensure that all staff members, volunteers, consultants, fellows, CATS, interns and service providers act appropriately in response to concerns raised around sexual exploitation, abuse, bullying and harassment.


Purpose:

  • Enable Sonke to demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding staff, volunteers and the community which come for contact with Sonke from deliberate or inadvertent actions.

  • Ensure that everyone associated with Sonke is aware of their obligations and responds appropriately to issues of sexual exploitation, abuse and vulnerable adults and the community within which Sonke operates.

  • Ensure that everyone who represents the organisation must actively create a safe environment for individuals and organisations that come into contact with Sonke.

Roles of various staff members and others involved:

  1. Complainant- a person who makes a formal complaint that they have been sexually harassed. The complainant may choose not to talk to the direct line manager but to the head of the unit or the CO-Executive directors.

  2. Line manager- to be kept informed of the charges ad investigation.

  3. HR Unit manager- will be responsible for coordinating investigation processes and hearing, seeking legal advice where necessary keeping the senior management team informed of allegations progress and outcomes. They will ensure that all the actions compliance with the organisational policies.

  4. Investigator - will be appointed by the SMT on an annual basis and will be responsible for investigating the charges, participate hearings, provide the HR manager with their legal expertise and advice, provide the HR unit Manager with the findings.

  5. Reputation manager- you cannot control what a person thinks but you can control what they see which will shape the way they think. Today the most accessible medium of communication is the internet. This will manage negative new articles, negative online images, blog posts, review sites and social media using techniques from the field of search engines optimization, cognitive psychology, user behaviour and human computer interactions which will report equilibrium back to search results, review site information and other source of publicly accessible information
